Medical Billing Associate

A well-established behavioral health agency is seeking a full-time Medical Billing Associate. The ideal candidate would have a background in medical billing and coding, denials management, payment posting, insurance verification, prior authorization and insurance follow-up.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of prior experience working as a Medical Biller
• Previous experience with Mental Health billing is ideal.
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines, Medicare/Medicaid and Third-Party payers.
• Experience with Medisoft, Therapy Notes, Penelope is a tremendous PLUS.

Responsibilities:

• Follow up on unpaid claims, addressingrejections and appealing denied claims and other discrepancies
• Calling insurance companies for updates on claim status and to clarify billing details.
• Update and coordinate with counselors on client insurance updates/changes
• Outstanding invoice calls
• Processing client payments
• Monitor accounts receivable and responds to requests for additional medical documentation
• Insurance and Benefit verifications
• Electronic Billing and Authorizations
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD 10 codes, maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and coding
• Other billing department related tasks
• All other duties as assigned
