Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Science Teacher specializing in Life Sciences to inspire and educate middle school students to be able to successful complete the NYS Regents Exam. This role involves delivering engaging lessons that foster curiosity about biological sciences, including cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and organic chemistry. The ideal candidate will utilize innovative teaching methods, integrate educational technology into lessons, and adapt to diverse learning styles. Duties

  • Develop and implement comprehensive curriculum plans aligned with educational standards in life sciences, incorporating topics such as biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, and molecular biology.
  • Design and deliver interactive lessons utilizing modern educational technology to enhance understanding of complex scientific concepts.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments and dissections safely, fostering hands-on learning experiences that reinforce theoretical knowledge.
  • Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, standardized tests, and project-based evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment conducive to active participation from students of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and implementing best practices in science education.
  • Mentor students academically and personally, offering guidance on research projects, academic advising, and career pathways in science fields.
  • Ensure compliance with educational regulations and safety protocols during laboratory activities and classroom instruction.
  • Incorporate instructional design principles to cater to various learning styles and adapt lessons for middle school and high school students.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to scientific research advancements, teaching methodologies, and educational technology integration.

Experience

  • Proven experience teaching science at the middle or high school level with a focus on life sciences;
  • Strong background in laboratory research laboratory experience including dissection techniques, microbiology procedures, biochemistry experiments, and molecular biology techniques..
  • Familiarity with standardized testing preparation and assessment strategies for science subjects.
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds; ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Skilled in classroom management strategies that foster an inclusive environment supporting varied learning styles.
  • Proficiency with educational technology tools for lesson planning, instructional delivery, assessment tracking, and virtual learning environments.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and mentoring students; ability to proofread instructional materials for accuracy.
  • Knowledge of educational compliance standards related to science education regulations; experience implementing IT-integrated lessons is preferred.
