Until training is fully completed, the position will be in person, with the possibility of transitioning to a hybrid schedule after training.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Part-Time Temporary Transportation Assistant to coordinate transportation services for older adults enrolled in the CASC Transportation Program. The position will schedule rides through a contracted car service for medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other approved essential needs following NYC Aging standards of operation for the Transportation Program. The ideal candidate is organized, patient, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with older adults and transportation providers while helping older adults access essential services and maintain their independence.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in scheduling, transportation coordination, customer service, healthcare, senior services, social services, or a related field preferred.

 

Supervision

  • Directly supervised by Transportation Program Director.
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
  • Participate in NYSOFA, NYC Aging and CASC training and education sessions as required.

 

Requisite Skills and Capabilities:

  • Comfortable using email, telephone systems, calendars, and basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal communication skills, with patience and professionalism when working with older adults.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests, work independently, and communicate effectively with the team and transportation providers.
  • Ability to work under the direction of others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling client information.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and process transportation requests.
  • Schedule and coordinate rides with the contracted transportation provider for medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other approved essential needs.
  • Confirm trip details and communicate schedules, changes, cancellations, and delays with clients.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records and follow program eligibility, confidentiality, scheduling policies, and standards of operations to ensure consistent, efficient, and compliant service delivery.
  • Provide courteous, patient, and respectful service to older adults.
  • Conduct client intake as needed.
  • Communicate client needs or recurring transportation issues to Program Director.  
  • Assist with other administrative and program-related duties as assigned.
