Our New York City summer program blends classroom instruction with real-world learning through iconic landmarks, excursions, and guided visits, creating an exciting and unforgettable educational experience.

Job Summary
Join our dynamic summer program as an ESL Teacher dedicated to empowering international high school students visiting the US through engaging language instruction! We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated ESL (English as a Second Language) Teachers to join our 5-week summer program, hosted at Wagner College in Staten Island. The program is designed to help teens/young learners age 13-18 students improve their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in an engaging and supportive environment, while connecting classroom learning to an Americal cultural experience around New York City

Responsibilities

  • Deliver our proprietary ESL curriculum at various student proficiency levels
  • Manage classroom dynamics effectively, ensuring a positive, inclusive environment conducive to learning
  • Use innovative instructional design techniques to create engaging activities that promote active learning and student participation

Prepare students for excursions by introducing relevant vocabulary and cultural context within the frame of the curriculum

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Education, English, Linguistics, or related field preferred)
  • TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated ESL classroom teaching experience required
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds

Experience

  • Prior classroom experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or in adult language education settings
  • Demonstrated success in lesson planning for diverse learner populations
  • Familiarity with learning technology tools, LMS platforms, and instructional design software
  • Strong communication skills for effective teacher coaching and student engagement
  • Bilingual abilities are advantageous for supporting bilingual learners and enhancing instructional delivery
  • Knowledge of classroom management strategies to foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment
