POSITION SUMMARY: The Youth Sports Coach will be responsible for the supervision and organization of their coordinating physical activity programs that are appropriate for participants physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth between 10 to 20 years of age. The Youth Sports Coach will provide engaging physical activities in safe environment for all of our participants within our program and to those we serve within the community. Employees are responsible for complying with all UAU standards.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Develop and implement plans for program’s physical activity curriculum
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director and/or Education Specialist on the implementation and development of the programs sports activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and group lessons utilizing a variation of teaching methods
  • Supervise and manage groups of participants
  • Creates a learning environment conducive to the development and learning appropriate to the coordinating physical sports activity, such as soccer, basketball, football, dance etc…
  • Facilitate a safe and productive environment for youth by ways of Sports and Physical activities related instruction and games.
  • Create a fun and visually appealing environment for youth
  • Model, enforce, teach and develop age appropriate social, physical and emotional behaviors
  • Employ positive behavior management strategies for disruptive and negative behaviors
  • Demonstrate positive leadership and act as a positive role model to participants
  • Abide by all safety protocols as outlined by Department of Health/OCFS, DYCD and UAU
  • Participate in ongoing professional development
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

● High School diploma or GED (Highschool Equivalency Diploma), required

● Must be 18 years of age or older

● Knowledge of a particular physical activity subject matter area or specialty, required

● Experience working with children/ teens/ young adults

● 1+ years of prior experience teaching or facilitating sport related group activities

● Must be culturally competent - ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures

● Must pass reference checks and background

● Strong verbal and written communication skills

● Excellent organizational and time management skills

● Demonstrated ability to conduct and complete work independently

● Willing to take initiative and be flexible when needed

● Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objects and outcomes
