Wellness Advocate – Reeve Wellness Initiative (Part-Time)

Position Summary
The Wellness Advocate serves as the primary staff lead for the Reeve Wellness Initiative, a community-based wellness program designed to improve health, independence, and quality of life for individuals living with paralysis. This role is responsible for coordinating and delivering accessible, adaptive wellness programming while ensuring participant safety, engagement, and measurable outcomes.
The Wellness Advocate bridges adaptive fitness instruction and independent living supports by providing individualized guidance, facilitating group-based wellness activities, and connecting participants to community resources. Through relationship-centered and disability-informed practice, this role promotes physical health, emotional wellbeing, and meaningful community integration.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation & Coordination
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Reeve Wellness Initiative in alignment with grant goals and timelines
- Coordinate and facilitate wellness activities, including adaptive fitness sessions, peer groups with physical activity components, cooking classes, and safety/self-defense workshops
- Support inclusive community outings such as adaptive bowling, swimming, or accessible gym visits
- Assist with scheduling, logistics, and coordination with community partners and instructors
Participant Engagement & Support
- Recruit and enroll individuals living with paralysis, including targeted outreach to veteran participants
- Conduct participant intake and support individualized wellness and fitness goal setting
- Provide adaptive guidance and encouragement to support participant confidence, independence, and sustained engagement
- Ensure all activities are accessible, safe, and responsive to varying mobility and ability levels
Safety, Documentation & Evaluation
- Monitor participant safety during all wellness activities and outings
- Track attendance, participation, and progress using intake forms, session logs, and satisfaction surveys
- Collect and document data for mid-year and final evaluations, including qualitative participant feedback
- Support preparation of program reports and documentation required for funder reporting
Collaboration & Outreach
- Collaborate with SICIL staff to integrate wellness programming into broader independent living services
- Support outreach efforts through peer groups, community events, veteran organizations, and on-site materials
- Contribute to program visibility through content for calendars, flyers, and digital outreach
Qualifications
- Experience in community health, wellness programming, disability services, independent living, or related fields
- Knowledge of or lived experience with disability, paralysis, or mobility-related conditions strongly preferred
- Understanding of adaptive fitness principles and inclusive program design
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with diverse participants
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills
- Commitment to equity, accessibility, and participant-centered practice
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Schedule & Compensation
- 16 hours per week (flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings or weekends for programs and outings)
- $25 per hour
- Grant-funded, time-limited position (12 months)
