Game Room Supervisor – Professional Staff

General Overview:

The Game Room Supervisor plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and engaging student experience on campus. This position, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Student Life and the Office Assistant for Student Life, is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of all game room operations. A key aspect of the role involves supervising a team of student staff game room attendants, ensuring their proper training, scheduling, and performance to maintain a fun, safe, and well-maintained environment for all patrons. The supervisor also handles equipment maintenance, inventory, program development, and enforces policies to ensure smooth and efficient daily functioning of the game room.

Principal Responsibilities, Duties and Job Functions:

  • Supervision (in conjunction w/ Associate Director of Student Life)
  • Recruit, hire, train, and schedule student game room attendants.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ensure staff are knowledgeable about game room policies, equipment, and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver regular training sessions on customer service, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

Daily Operations:

  • Manage the opening and closing procedures of the game room.
  • Monitor the overall cleanliness and organization of the space.
  • Ensure all equipment (gaming consoles, arcade machines, board games, etc.) is in good working order.
  • Address immediate issues such as equipment malfunctions, disruptive behavior, or facility concerns.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of games, equipment, and supplies.

Equipment Maintenance and Management:

  • Perform routine troubleshooting and minor repairs on game room equipment
  • Coordinate with external vendors for major repairs or maintenance as needed.
  • Research and recommend new games and equipment purchases to enhance the student experience.

Program Development and Promotion:

  • Plan, promote, and execute special events, tournaments, and programs within the game room to attract and engage students.
  • Collaborate with other student life departments including Student Government and Clubs to integrate game room activities into broader campus programming.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with student populations
  • Proficiency with gaming systems (consoles, PCs, arcade cabinets).
  • Knowledge of current trends in gaming
  • Some college experience

Rate: $19.00/hour
