Specific Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Experience with the ill or disabled in recreation or related field is preferred
• Specific skills such as arts and crafts, music and drama required
• Strong computer skills required
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing is essential for electronic medical record
• Flexible regarding working hours – weekends / holidays required
• Experience in Memory Care preferred

Duties of Recreation Worker:

• To conduct initial and follow-up interviews with each resident and/or family member to formulate individualized recreation programs tailored to the needs and functioning level of each resident utilizing the electronic medical record.
• To take an active part in planning, scheduling and resident care planning.
• To work closely with other departments in planning a comprehensive, coordinated treatment plan for each individual resident and to attend all care planning meetings.
• To implement activities which includes transporting residents to and from programs.
• To assess and evaluate activities regularly.
• To participate in professional workshops and seminars both in-house and outside of the facility.
• To maintain all supplies and equipment.
• To perform all clerical duties necessary to the functioning of the Recreation Department including detailed documentation in the electronic medical record.
• To attend all required meetings and conferences as directed.
• To perform any job function that the Administrator or Recreation Director / Supervisor feels would benefit the resident’s safety or welfare.

The Recreation Worker must understand that due to the nature of the service, the working hours must be flexible and subject to change depending on the needs of the residents. All recreation personnel may be required to work as much as every other weekend and as many as two evening shifts per week (12:00pm to 8:30pm).
