The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.
The Foundation seeks a high-level AVP of the COO Office to work alongside the COO on various projects across multiple departments. An ideal candidate will work in a manner that corresponds to the professional nature of the office and strives to support the vision of the COO and Foundation through daily tasks. The ideal candidate is a generalist with a broad skill set and background.
Duties and responsibilities
- Work closely with the COO to manage projects across multiple departments to help meet expectations and goals.
- Act as a gatekeeper and trafficker for the COO.
- Work under the guidance of the COO and alongside the COO's team to manage a broad range of high-level responsibilities and various projects.
- Distill information across departments and channels to create various status reports and presentations for the COO.
- Create grant proposals, including narrative and financial, for grantors and sponsors. Monitor grantee relationships and track funding provided by the Foundation.
- Act as a project manager for various initiatives, and traffic those projects from start to finish.
- Coordinate projects and tasks across departments, ensuring milestones are being met in accordance with goals and deadlines.
- Responsibilities will be diverse across multiple departments involving different subject areas.
- Responsibilities may include but are not limited to drafting content for various purposes, acting as a representative for meetings or phone calls, working on special events, troubleshooting, research, and general project management.
- Extensive collaboration with Foundation department leads daily.
- Handle a heavy volume of internal requests, including answering inquiries, resolving problems, and making appropriate referrals.
- Responsible for keeping project deadlines for multiple departments.
- Manage the COO's calendar and schedule.
- Prepare the COO for both internal and external meetings.
- Ability to act as a liaison between the COO and various senior team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Must possess a minimum of 7 years of general business and management experience; experience with C-Suite; and working at the executive level.
- Must be an excellent communicator- both written and verbal, and be comfortable speaking to all levels of the Foundation team as well as with external contacts and network.
- Broad, strong, and diverse skill set.
- Must be flexible (including ability to work off hours when needed) and have the ability to problem solve.
- Excellent communication skills and extremely well written.
- Expertise in PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and handle high-pressure.
- Strong work ethic, forward thinking, team player, multitasker, dedicated, troubleshooter, comfortable in working across many disciplines.
- Diligent with high ethical standards.
- Extremely organized, able to work independently, and manage tasks to completion meeting all deadlines.
- Strong people sensibility and instincts.

Working conditions
Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events such as: NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, golf outings, and other fundraising events, as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
