GENERAL SUMMARY / MAJOR FUNCTION

The Assistant Director of Health Services is an RN who is responsible for assisting with the overall supervision of nursing care in the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist in supervising direct nursing care in community.

· Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participants in staffing, scheduling, counseling,

orientation, on-call, and evaluation of nursing staff.

· Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated.

· Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.

· Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records, including but not limited to care

plans, assessments.

· Coordinates, conducts, and documents, resident care plans and conference in conjunction

with or in the absence of the Director of Health Services.

· Responds to emergency calls as necessary.

· Functions as the Director of Health Services in his/her absence.

· Participants in family/resident counseling.

· Coordinates with Move-in Coordinator to ensure all regulatory documents are present prior

to admission.

· Assures timeliness of physician visits.

· Accompanies physicians when making rounds.

· Notifies physician and family of changes in resident's condition.

· Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents' independence.

· Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies.

· Assists DOHS in developing and implementing policies and procedures.

· Assists in infection control, safety and pharmacy rounds and audits.

· Attends in-service training and education sessions, s assigned.

· Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

· RN currently licensed and in good standing in the state.

· Current CPR certification.

· Senior Care experience with a good understanding of regulations.

· Staffing/Scheduling experience is preferred.

· Supervisory experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and squatting.

· Must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the workday.

· Must be able to lift, transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.

· Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.

ENVIRONMENTAL/OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES

· May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior.

BACKGROUND CHECKS AND REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent is subject to background checks, as required. In addition, possession of a valid driver’s license and acceptable insurance coverage may be required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
