TITLE: Custodian
PROGRAM: Neighborhood Senior Center
JOB PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
Under the supervision of the Director, is responsible for maintaining and cleaning all areas of the Senior Center including dining area, kitchen, storage rooms, offices, arts and crafts room, wellness room and bathrooms. Responsible for ordering, storing and maintaining adequate custodial and disposable supplies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Sweep, mop, strip, wax and vacuum all floors and stairways. Move and replace furniture as needed.
- Clean and maintain all bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, stalls, walls and floors.
- Wash, wet sponge and dust walls, windows and window sills.
- Clean handrails, baseboards, room corners and stair landings.
- Empty and wash waste baskets and garbage cans.
- Clean window coverings, shades and curtains as needed.
- Clean and polish furniture and metal work.
- Clean mirrors and glass in bookcases and doors.
- Dust and replace light bulbs, light fixtures, ceiling tiles; change batteries in smoke alarms.
- Replace toilet paper, towels and other supplies.
- Order and receive supplies; maintain inventory.
- Check emergency lights weekly.
- Organize closet space as needed.
- Prepare rooms for daily activities and special events.
- Have an understanding of relevant DFTA standards and CASC policies and procedures.
- Attend relevant training.
- Assist with other Senior Center tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Custodial/housekeeping experience preferred.
REQUISITE SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Good physical health
- Ability to stand long hours
- Able to lift heavy objects and climb a ladder
- Able to read, write and speak English
SALARY and BENEFITS:
$31,238.00 annually
