As the Medical Biller Assistant you will:
- Assist with Answering, screening, and directing calls
- Assist in Pre-arranging transport for facilities
- Provide information and assistance for customer service inquires as needed
- Provide supportive information to customers to assist them in arranging transport
- Develop effective solutions for customer service issues and direct issues to proper channels
- Reviews as a second verification basic information for the patient, including name, address, date of birth, social security number, insurance information, the ranking of insurance related to call.
- Verifies receipt of and updates PCS information (if non-emergency and/or schedule trips) or payor's preauthorization of services for the trip
- Verifies and updates service details, including pick-up and drop-off addresses, date and time, call type, response priority and transport priority
- Verifies the medical details and determine the appropriate service
- Verifies and updates the correct amount to charge for the services rendered and the procedures administered
- Generates a claim for the trip on paper or in the correct electronic submission format that includes all the necessary details, modifiers, indicators, condition codes, and documentation, and send to the primary payor(s)
- Assure HIPAA compliance with regards to billing practices
- Other duties as assigned
You are the ideal candidate if you have:
· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
· Knowledge of ambulance transport documentation and insurances
· Ability to collect for healthcare claims from Medicare/Medicaid, commercial insurance, contracted facilities, and individuals
· Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid regulations and guidelines
· Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, Coding, Private Pay, and insurance preferred
· Familiarity with medical terminology
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Minimum of 1-year of Office experience and/or medical billing experience with a high-volume practice, clinic or ambulance
Pay: $38,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
