Business Education Instructor - Job Description

NYC Business Solutions Center Instructor will perform the following functions:

Instruction

  • Teach courses following an SBS-approved curriculum on topics related to business planning, financing, accounting, sales, and/or marketing
  • Present the business education material in an interactive, engaging, informed manner
  • Provide coaching and feedback to customers as relevant to course content
  • Connect customers to other SBS services, including the Business Solutions suite of services and additional business education courses

Program Evaluation

  • Provide periodic feedback on updates to the Business Solutions course structure, curriculum, and materials
  • Collect client evaluation forms at the end of each class and leave them with the NYC Business Solutions Center staff or participating community partners

Administrative

Webinars

  • Experience in leading online webinars
  • Technologically advance in using Zoom meeting to conduct webinars

In-Person Courses

    • Prepare classroom for lesson as needed
    • Distribute and collect intake forms from clients at the first session, and track client attendance for all sessions (if there is more than one session associated with the course)

*The NYC Business Solutions Instructor position is not a full-time role. Instructors work on a contract basis.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS, or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree in business management, finance, economics, or equivalent work experience preferred (e.g., BSC account manager, small business consultants, experienced entrepreneurs and small business owners, business professionals, business lecturers)
  • Prior experience teaching, coaching, or facilitating adult education on topics related to:
    • business planning and operations
    • financing and accounting
    • sales and marketing
  • Experience with interactive, case-based, and experiential learning preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Engaging presentation style
  • Commitment to the development and growth of New York City’s small businesses and entrepreneurs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in one of the following nine languages (please indicate on resume):
    • Spanish
    • Chinese
    • Russian
    • Korean
    • Haitian Creole
    • Arabic
    • Bengali
    • Urdu
    • French
    • English

Requirements:

  • This position may require work on the evenings/weekends
  • Willingness to travel within the 5 Boroughs or the selected Borough as identified by the Center
