POSITION DESCRIPTION

Provide case work to crime victims 60 years or older. Provide linkage to needed services which will assist them in recovering from victimization.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO

  • Obtain intake information on all crime victims and determine if they are eligible for compensation.
  • Conduct individual assessment by telephone, by office visits or at client’s home (if deemed necessary) in order to assess client needs.
  • Assist eligible clients in filling out the compensation form on line and submit to OVS.
  • Develop case plan for crisis intervention services and if necessary arrange for ongoing services.
  • Provide information, referral, advocacy and counseling to ensure clients are connected to resources such as financial counseling, home repairs and lock replacements.
  • Identify community resources available to meet service needs of elderly crime victims.
  • Advocate for the rights and benefits of crime victims.
  • Maintain case records on all clients and complete necessary statistical information.
  • Send out surveys to all clients serviced
  • Ensure all clients are entered into the online database
  • Complete all daily and monthly reports
  • Maintain working relationship with the police and community service providers.
  • Know overall agency goals and programs.
  • Assist with other program activities as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

BSW, BS, BA level education is preferred.

2+ years of experience in direct service to older adult clients is preferred.  An Associate Degree will be considered with proper experience directly related to the position.

Knowledge of Staten Island desirable. 

Excel knowledge is a plus. Experience working with Elder Abuse/Domestic Violence is a plus.
